When I started attending photography workshops I got exposed to new and different ways of making photographs. While at my first California Photographic Workshops, no longer being held, I was shown how the Polaroid SX-70 film could be manipulated as the developing image was setting. The emulsion could be “mushed about” with a pointed object, such as a golf tee or orange stick, to create painterly patterns and other effects. Sadly the original Polaroid film for the SX-70 camera is no longer made, however in 2008 The Impossible Project was born and now re-formulated versions of SX-70 and other Polaroid Land Instant films are being produced.
